During the last days of term, Miss Proctor, Mrs Inkley, Mr Swain and Mr Martin took a group of 37 pupils to Madrid on a Spanish educational trip. We attended school on Wednesday 28th March, and at 11 o’clock we started what was to be a long day of travelling; only arriving in Madrid at 7 o’clock local time. Our hotel was located in the very heart of Madrid, which made it perfect for getting around the lively city. On our first two days, we had two hour-long Spanish lessons, with teachers from Spain, which really showed how hard the language is! We also visited the Royal Palace, and took a tour around the lavish and expensive rooms inside. We took a ride on the metro the next day (a very memorable experience!) to the Plaza de Toros - the famous bull ring. During the mid-day heat, the bull ring looked very impressive, and once inside we walked down to the actual ring, looking out onto the sand where many fights take place. On our third day, we were presented with the task of completing a Treasure Hunt. In small groups, we went and explored Madrid on our own, forcing us to use our knowledge of Spanish. After asking various people how to find things (and getting lost several times) we were allowed to go shopping - finally! On our fourth day in Madrid, we visited the Reina Sofia art gallery, and saw the famous Guernica painting, by Picasso. That same day, we took a hugely anticipated trip to Santiago Bernabéu - the stadium of the Real Madrid team. Trophies, golden boots, shirts - we saw them all. During the evenings, we went to various restaurants around Madrid - including a bar serving traditional Spanish food, which was not popular amongst the group. One night we went bowling in a shopping centre, and on another we had a games night, concocted by the High Quiz Master, Mr Martin. Our final day consisted of a trip to a flea market and relaxation in the Retiro Park, before getting on our flight home. We arrived back at school at midnight, very tired but very happy with what was a brilliant experience. |

The schools rewards system is VivoMiles!

What is Vivo?
VivoMiles is an online rewards system for school. It allows teachers to award students electronic points called “Vivos” for good work, effort etc, which students can choose to save, donate or spend on the rewards they want from a customisable online catalogue.
What can we get with them?
Basically, a large selection of goods from the Argos catalogue including sports equipment, beauty products and electronic gadgets, as well as cinema tickets, tenpin bowling tickets, New Look and WHSmith vouchers. The school decides which of these products the students have access to, if at all. Indeed, the school can always add their own products to the shop quickly and easily.
What do you get them for?
Anything that the school decides to award them for! The school sets the rewards categories; these could be, for example, great academic work, good behaviour, involvement in extra-curricular activities, participation in sport, good attendance. So basically 1 credit = 1 vivo!
Want to know more about Vivo's then use the link on the 'Other Website Links' menu to the left of your screen!
